User Account Matching 2012
The Account Matching Task involves the identification of users' accounts across different social Web services such as Flickr, Tumblr or YouTube. Nowadays, people are not only active on a single platform, but on a number of different platforms, creating photo albums, writing blog posts, commenting and bookmarking. Automatically identifying the users' contributions across platforms can yield enriched user profiles which are beneficial for a range of personalized applications (such as recommenders). Also, it has implications for forensics, security, and privacy research.
In the task, participants will be provided with the content of a user's account on service A (e.g., Flickr) and will be asked to identify which account from a pool of given accounts on service B (e.g., YouTube) belongs to the same user.
Provided to the participants will be the publicly available data from different social Web services. The ground truth is derived from an aggregator website, where users can indicate which social Web accounts belong to them across services.
